"No single event has influenced the history of labor in Illinois, the United States, and even the world, more than the Chicago Haymarket Affair. It began with a rally on May 4, 1886, but the consequences are still being felt today. Although the rally is included in American history textbooks, very few present the event accurately or point out its significance," according to labor studies professor William J. Adelman.
Here, in the shadow of the Haymarket Memorial sculpture, we strive to bring remembrance to all those involved - those who fought for our freedoms, those who fought for justice and peace, those who died to bring us rights that many take for granted.
Raise a pint and celebrate all that these great people fought for......
Through our radio program, The Drinking & Writing Brewery Radio Show, and productions on stage and in bars, our website, and on the page, The Drinking & Writing Brewery exists to preserve the spirit and devotion of the hard drinking writer and to uphold the rituals of creativity through their passion for the written word. We strive to attract others who share these principles.
Colsch Kream Ale
A collaboration with Mark Legenza of the soon to open ‘On Tour’ brewing that is close to our hood. This is a cream ale/kolsch hybrid that will be brewed with flaked corn (cream ale), torrified wheat and pilsner malt (kolsch), and fermented with ale yeast from a Kolsch producer in Germany! It’s a crushable crowd pleaser!
Haymarket is a registered service mark of Haymarket Brewing Company, LLC.
